About Medicine Cats
Wise & Healing
Medicine cats are the spiritual guides and healers of each clan. They communicate with StarClan through dreams and visions, treat wounded and sick cats, and gather herbs for their medicine stores. They are exempt from many warrior traditions, including the rule against befriending cats from other clans.
🌙 Communication with StarClan
Medicine cats are the primary link between the living clans and StarClan. They receive prophecies, omens, and warnings through dreams during moonhigh and at special gathering places.
🌿 Healing & Herbs
They use their extensive knowledge of herbs and plants to treat wounds, illnesses, and injuries. Each medicine cat carries a vast storehouse of healing knowledge passed down through generations.
⚕️ Special Status
Medicine cats do not take mates or have kits, dedicating their lives entirely to service. They can travel across clan boundaries freely to meet with other medicine cats.
🌕 Half-Moon Meetings
On every half-moon, all medicine cats from the four clans gather at a sacred place called the Moonstone to share tongues with StarClan and receive guidance for their clans.
👥 No Clan Loyalty Fights
Unlike warriors, medicine cats do not fight in battles between clans. They are neutral and will treat injured cats from any clan, though they must warn their own clan of enemy approaches.
📚 Apprentices
Medicine cat apprentices train for many moons to learn about herbs, healing, and communing with StarClan. They receive their full name when they are ready to serve alone.
